Around 300,000 Foreign Tourists Visit the Annapurna Region in 2025

The Annapurna region of Nepal recorded a remarkable surge in international tourism in 2025, welcoming 299,831 foreign tourists, according to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).

ACAP Chief Rabin Kadaria stated that out of the total arrivals, 177,628 tourists came from South Asian countries, while 122,203 visitors arrived from other international markets, highlighting Annapurna’s growing global appeal.

Rising Tourist Arrivals in the Annapurna Region

The 2025 figures show a strong upward trend compared to previous years. In 2024, the Annapurna area received 244,045 foreign tourists, while in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, the number stood at 181,000. The steady growth reflects Nepal’s tourism recovery and the increasing popularity of trekking and cultural travel in the Annapurna region.

The Annapurna region remains one of Nepal’s most diverse tourism hubs, offering world-class trekking routes, cultural villages, and sacred pilgrimage sites. Major destinations attracting both domestic and international travelers include:

Tourism experts attribute the growing visitor numbers to improved trekking infrastructure, better road and air connectivity, and Annapurna’s unique blend of Himalayan landscapes, cultural heritage, and spiritual significance.

With nearly 300,000 foreign tourists in 2025, the Annapurna region continues to strengthen its position as one of Nepal’s top trekking and travel destinations.
