FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Chinese Visa and Tibet Travel Permit for this tour?

Yes. To enter Tibet, you need both a Chinese Visa and a Tibet Travel Permit.

  • If you are entering Tibet from Nepal, we will assist you in obtaining a Chinese Group Visa in Kathmandu (your individual Chinese Visa becomes invalid once this group visa is issued).
  • If you are entering Tibet from mainland China, you need to get a Chinese Visa in your home country first, and then we will arrange the Tibet Travel Permit, which is delivered to your hotel in China.

Can solo travelers join the Lhasa to EBC tour?

Absolutely! Solo travelers can join our fixed departure group tours to share costs and enjoy companionship, or request a private tour for more flexibility. Many solo travelers successfully complete this route each year.

Is the trip safe and suitable for first-time high-altitude travelers?

Yes. The itinerary includes 2–3 days in Lhasa for proper acclimatization before heading higher. While some travelers may feel mild symptoms of altitude sickness, our guides are experienced in monitoring health and ensuring gradual adjustment. Oxygen and medical support are available if needed.

How difficult is the journey to Everest Base Camp?

The tour involves overland driving on good paved roads with scenic stops along the way. There is no major trekking required — only short walks at sites such as monasteries and EBC viewpoint. Travelers should be prepared for long drives (4–7 hours some days) and higher altitude conditions.

What type of accommodations are included?

  • In Lhasa, Shigatse, and Gyirong: Comfortable 3-star hotels (upgrades available).
  • At Everest Base Camp: Basic tent guesthouses (shared, no private bathrooms). In winter, accommodation is arranged in a guesthouse at nearby Rongbuk village.

What meals are provided?

Breakfasts are included at hotels. Lunches and dinners are usually at local Tibetan/Chinese restaurants en route (flexible choice). At EBC, food is simple but hearty — mostly noodles, soups, and rice dishes.

When is the best time to visit Tibet Everest Base Camp from Lhasa?

The best season is April to October, when skies are clear and the road is accessible. From late spring to autumn, you’ll have higher chances to see Everest unobstructed by clouds. Winter is cold but still possible with fewer tourists.

Can I travel independently in Tibet?

No. Independent travel in Tibet is not permitted. All foreign travelers must join an organized tour with permits, a licensed Tibetan guide, and pre-arranged transportation.

Can I continue from EBC to Kathmandu, Nepal?

Yes! The classic itinerary is Lhasa → Everest Base Camp → Gyirong Border → Kathmandu. We arrange all logistics, including border crossing assistance and transfer to Kathmandu.

Will I see Mt. Everest clearly?

Weather can vary, but we maximize your chances by stopping at four different viewpoints plus an overnight stay at EBC.

Can I customize Tibet Everest Base Camp Tour?

Yes, the itinerary can be extended to include Namtso Lake, Kathmandu overland journey, or trekking options.

Is travel insurance required?

Yes, comprehensive travel insurance covering high-altitude travel is strongly recommended. This ensures peace of mind in case of medical emergencies, trip delays, or cancellations.
