The Tibet Everest Base Camp Tour is the ultimate overland journey across Tibet, combining rich cultural immersion with breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. Beginning in the holy city of Lhasa, you’ll explore Tibet’s most iconic landmarks including the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and the great monasteries of Drepung and Sera. Along the way, you’ll meet local families, enjoy lakeside walks by the sacred Yamdrok Lake, and witness ancient traditions that define Tibetan life.
The highlight of this adventure is the approach to the world’s highest peak, Mt. Everest (8,848m). From four carefully chosen viewpoints, you’ll enjoy unique perspectives of Everest—from your first glimpse on mountain passes to the stunning sunset, starlit skies, and sunrise at Everest Base Camp itself. Few experiences rival the moment of waking up beneath the towering white pyramid of the world’s tallest mountain.
With professional Tibetan guides, comfortable accommodations, and carefully planned acclimatization, this itinerary is suitable for both younger travelers and seniors alike. If a 4-year-old child and an 84-year-old guest have safely completed this trip, so can you!
Warm Tibetan welcome at the airport/train station with a traditional Hada scarf. Scenic drive into Lhasa, passing the Yarlung Tsangpo and Lhasa rivers. Rest and acclimatize.
Explore Drepung Monastery, once home to 10,000 monks, and learn about Tibetan Buddhist philosophy. In the afternoon, witness the famous monks’ debates at Sera Monastery.
Tour the Potala Palace, visit Longwangtan Park for unique palace views, then head to Jokhang Temple and walk the kora around Barkhor Street with pilgrims. Enjoy tea in a local tea house.
Drive over Gampala Pass for panoramic views of Yamdrok Lake and Mt. Nyenchen Khangsar. Visit a local family for lunch by the lake. Stop at Korola Glacier and Simila Pass before arriving in Shigatse via Gyantse.
Scenic drive across Gyatsola and Gawula passes with sweeping Himalayan views. Zigzag road descent brings you closer to Everest. Arrive at EBC to witness sunset over Mt. Everest. Overnight at EBC or nearby village.
Catch sunrise over Everest before visiting Rongbuk Monastery. Return via Dinggye and Sakya, stopping at viewpoints of Everest and Mt. Lhotse. Enjoy a cultural evening in Shigatse.
Morning visit to Tashilhunpo Monastery, home of the Panchen Lama. Return to Lhasa along the Yarlung Tsangpo River. Free time in Barkhor Street.

Absolutely! Solo travelers can join our fixed departure group tours to share costs and enjoy companionship, or request a private tour for more flexibility. Many solo travelers successfully complete this route each year.
Yes. The itinerary includes 2–3 days in Lhasa for proper acclimatization before heading higher. While some travelers may feel mild symptoms of altitude sickness, our guides are experienced in monitoring health and ensuring gradual adjustment. Oxygen and medical support are available if needed.
The tour involves overland driving on good paved roads with scenic stops along the way. There is no major trekking required — only short walks at sites such as monasteries and EBC viewpoint. Travelers should be prepared for long drives (4–7 hours some days) and higher altitude conditions.
Breakfasts are included at hotels. Lunches and dinners are usually at local Tibetan/Chinese restaurants en route (flexible choice). At EBC, food is simple but hearty — mostly noodles, soups, and rice dishes.
The best season is April to October, when skies are clear and the road is accessible. From late spring to autumn, you’ll have higher chances to see Everest unobstructed by clouds. Winter is cold but still possible with fewer tourists.
No. Independent travel in Tibet is not permitted. All foreign travelers must join an organized tour with permits, a licensed Tibetan guide, and pre-arranged transportation.
