The Mount Kailash Tour is one of the most sacred pilgrimage journeys in Tibet’s far-west region. For Hindus, Mount Kailash is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva, while Buddhists revere it as the spiritual center of the universe. This holy mountain draws thousands of devotees and adventurers every year seeking liberation from ignorance and spiritual awakening.
The journey includes the Kailash Kora (Parikrama) – a sacred circuit around Mount Kailash that takes three days to complete: clockwise for Buddhists and anticlockwise for Bon practitioners. Pilgrims also take a ritual bath in the holy Lake Manasarovar, said to cleanse one’s sins and purify the soul.
According to Buddhist scriptures, Lord Buddha visited Kailash in the 5th century BC, and Buddhism later spread into Tibet through Nepal and India. Hindu legend says Lord Shiva resides eternally at Mount Kailash with Goddess Parvati, meditating and sharing divine love.
This spiritually enriching journey also offers travelers the opportunity to witness Tibet’s magical natural landscapes – turquoise lakes, high mountain passes, and vast plateaus — along with the deep devotion of pilgrims from around the world.
