Hotels in Chengdu, Lhasa, and Shigatse are comfortable 3–4-star properties with modern amenities. At Everest Base Camp, accommodation is basic tented lodges or guesthouses, depending on the season.

Bring warm layered clothing (even in summer), sunglasses, sunscreen, reusable water bottle, personal medications, and a camera with extra batteries. The sun is strong and the air is dry on the plateau.
