The Chisapani Nagarkot Trek is a scenic short trek near Kathmandu, perfect for travelers seeking a quick Himalayan escape without intense physical exertion. This 3-day trek offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan range, lush forests, terraced fields, and traditional Nepali villages. Along the way, trekkers will discover the charm of rural life while exploring Shivapuri National Park, home to diverse flora and fauna including the Himalayan monal, kalij pheasant, and blood pheasant.
The trek culminates in Nagarkot, a famous hill station offering one of the most spectacular sunrise panoramas over the Himalayas, including views of Mount Everest, Ganesh Himal, Dorje Lakpa, Langtang Lirung, Manaslu, and Annapurna. On the return route, the trek passes through Changu Narayan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest temple in Nepal.
This trek is ideal for beginners, families, photographers, and nature lovers who want a short yet memorable Himalayan adventure close to Kathmandu.
After breakfast at your hotel in Kathmandu, drive for about an hour to Sundarijal, the starting point of the trek. Enter Shivapuri National Park, obtain your permit, and begin trekking. The trail gradually ascends through forests, streams, and traditional villages, reaching Mulkharka for a lunch or refreshment break. Continue along stone-paved steps to Chisapani, renowned for its spectacular views of Langtang, Dorje Lakpa, Ganesh Himal, and Gaurishankar. Overnight in a tea house or lodge.

Depart Chisapani and continue through Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park, home to wildlife such as Indian leopard, Himalayan black bear, mongooses, porcupines, and pangolins. Bird watchers will enjoy spotting the yellow-throated marten and Himalayan monal. Stop for lunch at Chauki Bhanjyang or Jhule, then continue trekking to Nagarkot, where panoramic Himalayan vistas await at dusk. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Nagarkot with breakfast included.

Wake up early to witness the stunning sunrise over 8 Himalayan ranges, including Mount Everest. Explore the temple complex and surrounding cultural museum before boarding a vehicle for the return drive to Kathmandu.
