A total of 246,575 foreign tourists visited the Annapurna Conservation Area between January and October 2025, marking a record-breaking year for one of Nepal’s most popular trekking regions.
According to the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), out of the total visitors, 146,968 were from South Asian countries, while 99,607 arrived from other parts of the world.
April witnessed the highest number of tourist arrivals with 44,763 visitors, whereas January saw the lowest, with 9,359 tourists recorded.
Notably, the total number of foreign visitors in 2024 stood at 244,045, a figure that has already been surpassed within the first ten months of this year.
ACAP Chief Dr. Rabin Kadariya stated that tourist arrivals have increased in all months this year compared to the same period last year, except in May and September.
The Annapurna region, globally recognized as one of the most spectacular trekking destinations, typically experiences its peak tourist seasons from March to May and from September to November.
Dr. Kadariya also noted that the number of tourists traveling to popular destinations such as the Muktinath area via surface routes has remained consistently high.
The Annapurna Circuit Trek continues to rank among the most sought-after trekking routes for international travelers. ACAP data show that 191,666 foreign tourists visited the area in 2023, while the number had dropped to just 18,836 in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
