Rafting Begins on Kaligandaki River

Tourism entrepreneurs in Pokhara have officially launched rafting activities on the Kaligandaki River, targeting domestic tourists and adventure seekers.

The new rafting route operates from Farse in Jaljala Rural Municipality to Nayapul in Kushma Municipality. This initiative aims to extend the length of stay for visitors traveling to Pokhara, widely known as Nepal’s tourism capital.

The rafting program was organized by the Pokhara Visit Year Implementation Committee. The launch event brought together tourism entrepreneurs, local representatives, officials from Pokhara Metropolitan City, business leaders, and media personnel.

According to coordinator Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai, a total of 38 participants joined the inaugural rafting experience.

The Farse–Nayapul section covers approximately 10 kilometers and takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete. Travelers can reach the starting point within two hours by road from Pokhara, making it a convenient day-trip adventure.

In addition to rafting, visitors can explore nearby destinations such as Kushma, Baglung, Beni, and Galeshwor, enhancing the overall travel experience in the region.

As part of the broader Pokhara Visit Year campaign, the committee had previously promoted rafting activities on the Marsyangdi River and Seti River.

The best seasons for rafting in Nepal typically fall during the Nepali months of Kartik (October–November) and Chaitra (March–April), when river conditions are considered ideal for safe and enjoyable rafting experiences.

This new rafting initiative on the Kaligandaki River is expected to diversify adventure tourism offerings in Pokhara and attract more domestic travelers seeking short, thrilling experiences close to the city.
