The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Gandaki Province Office is set to establish a dedicated tourist information centre at Pokhara International Airport. The initiative is being launched in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Office and the Tourist Police to enhance visitor support services in the region.
The new facility aims to provide comprehensive travel guidance for both domestic and international tourists arriving in Pokhara — widely known as Nepal’s tourism capital and a major gateway to trekking routes in the Annapurna region.
According to Maniraj Lamichhane, Chief of the NTB Gandaki Province Office, the centre will function as the first point of contact for travellers landing at the international airport.
“Our objective is to provide reliable and up-to-date tourism information covering major attractions such as Phewa Lake, World Peace Stupa, and popular trekking destinations in the Annapurna Range and Dhaulagiri Range,” Lamichhane stated.
The information centre will be staffed full-time by NTB personnel along with two Tourist Police officers. Services will include answering travel queries, distributing printed and digital brochures, assisting tourists with safety guidelines, and providing information about local regulations.
Officials from the Civil Aviation Office highlighted that the modern infrastructure and expanding international flight connectivity of Pokhara International Airport are expected to significantly strengthen tourism growth in Gandaki Province.
Local tourism stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, noting that easy access to reliable information upon arrival can encourage visitors to explore destinations beyond Pokhara’s main attractions. This is likely to benefit trekking agencies, hotels, transport providers, guides, and other tourism-related businesses across the province.
The establishment of the tourist information centre reflects Nepal’s broader strategy to improve visitor experience and promote sustainable tourism development in key travel destinations.
