Shivapuri Hiking is an immersive 2-day trek located just 25 km from Kathmandu, offering a rare glimpse into the serene life of Nepalese villages while surrounded by the natural beauty of the Shivapuri National Park. Shivapuri Village is maintained in the true spirit of traditional Nepalese culture, providing visitors both a sense of remoteness and a warm local hospitality.
The trail passes through lush forests, scenic waterfalls, small villages, and panoramic viewpoints, making it ideal for nature treks, ethnic village exploration, bird watching, photography, or just relaxing in a tranquil setting. Since the village is located beyond the park, it is often advised to stay overnight in a hotel in Kathmandu before starting the trek.
Pick up from your hotel in Kathmandu and drive approximately 1 hour to Sundarijal. The hike begins steeply along a large water pipeline, passing waterfalls and lush forests. While trekking through the Shivapuri National Park, you may spot wildlife and diverse bird species. Stop for lunch along the way and continue to Chisapani (2,150 m) for the overnight stay.
After breakfast, explore the area around Chisapani and enjoy panoramic mountain views. Hike down through a less-traveled trail of Shivapuri National Park, passing small villages and scenic landscapes, eventually reaching Budhanilkantha. From there, drive back to Kathmandu.
Note: If you need hotel accommodation in Kathmandu or additional tours, arrangements can be made according to your requirements.
