“It is not the mountains we conquer, but ourselves.” – Sir Edmund Hillary.
True to these words, Pachermo Peak Climbing (6,273m) is more than a mountaineering adventure – it’s a journey of self-discovery. Located in Nepal’s remote Rolwaling Valley, Pachermo (also known as Pharchamo Peak) is one of the most beautiful trekking peaks in the Himalayas. First climbed in 1955 by Dennis Davis and Phil Boultbee, it has remained a hidden gem for climbers seeking both challenge and reward.
This expedition begins with a scenic drive to Jiri and Gongar Khola, before trekking through lush valleys, alpine forests, and traditional Sherpa villages. The trail winds through the wild and less-visited Rolwaling Valley, leading to the turquoise waters of Tsho Rolpa Lake and the icy expanse of Drolambu Glacier.
The adventure’s most thrilling section comes while crossing the high Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,750m), a dramatic gateway into the Khumbu (Everest) region. From here, climbers prepare for the ultimate ascent of Pachermo Peak (6,187m), standing on its summit with stunning views of Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Ama Dablam, Gauri Shankar, Kusum Kanguru, and Thamserku.
Following the summit, the route descends into the heart of the Everest region, passing through Thyangbo Kharka, Namche Bazaar, and Lukla, before flying back to Kathmandu. Along the way, climbers experience both the raw wilderness of Rolwaling and the vibrant Sherpa culture of Khumbu.
Though Pachermo is classified as a trekking peak, the climb is more demanding than most. It requires prior high-altitude trekking experience, good physical fitness, and basic mountaineering skills. With expert guides, proper acclimatization, and well-planned logistics, Pachermo Peak offers an unforgettable Himalayan adventure that combines trekking, technical climbing, and cultural immersion.
Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our team will warmly welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel. After check-in and refreshment, you will have some time to rest. In the evening, we will take you on a short walk around Kathmandu’s lively streets to get oriented, followed by a welcome dinner with your climbing guide. Overnight at hotel.
Today, we explore Kathmandu’s cultural and historical highlights, including UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These monuments reflect Nepal’s rich history, culture, and architecture. Meanwhile, our team will arrange climbing permits and finalize gear preparations.
Note: Visiting all heritage sites in one day is not possible, so you can choose 3–4 sites of interest.
Drive duration: 7–8 hours
After breakfast, we drive out of Kathmandu, following scenic roads through Jiri and Charikot. The journey takes us along the banks of the Sunkoshi and Bhotekoshi Rivers, passing lush hills, villages, and terraced fields. By evening, we reach Gongar Khola and stay overnight in a lodge.
Trek duration: 4–5 hours
Our trek begins along the western bank of the Bhotekoshi River. Today’s trail passes waterfalls, terraced fields, and small villages, offering splendid views of Gauri Shankar Himal. By afternoon, we reach Simigaun, a charming Sherpa settlement where we stay overnight.
Trek duration: 5–6 hours
Leaving Simigaun, we climb steeply through rhododendron and pine forests to reach Shakpa (2,460m) and Sambur Danda. From here, we ascend to Daldung La Pass (3,976m) for spectacular views, before descending to the Rolwaling River and entering Rolwaling Valley.
