The 2 Days Ghorepani Poon Hill Short Trek is the perfect adventure for travelers who want a quick yet breathtaking Himalayan experience. Beginning and ending in Pokhara, this short trek blends panoramic mountain views, cultural encounters, and scenic trails—all within just two days.
This route leads you through charming Gurung and Magar villages, terraced farmlands, and dense rhododendron forests, culminating at Poon Hill (3,210 m)—one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Annapurna region. The sunrise view from Poon Hill is world-famous for its glowing panorama of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) and dozens of snow-capped peaks.
Ideal for trekkers with limited time, beginners, families, and those seeking a soft-adventure experience, the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek offers maximum reward in minimal time. It captures both the natural beauty and the cultural richness of the Himalayas without requiring long trekking days or high-altitude acclimatization.
We at Adventure Friendship & Research Hub offer a well-planned, safe, and enjoyable 2-day trekking itinerary.
Your adventure begins early in the morning with a private jeep ride from Pokhara to Ulleri via Nayapul, Hile, Sudame, and Tikhedhunga. The scenic 3–4 hour drive offers beautiful views of river valleys, terraced hills, and occasional glimpses of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna South.
At Ulleri, enjoy lunch before starting your ascent toward Ghorepani. The trail climbs steadily through: Stone steps, Rhododendron forests, small villages like Banthanti (2,200 m), Oak and pine woodlands, Steams and waterfalls.
The path becomes cooler and more serene as you approach Ghorepani, a picturesque village surrounded by mountains. If the weather is clear, you’ll enjoy evening views of Annapurna South, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre.
Overnight: Teahouse in Ghorepani
Rise early (around 4:30 AM) for a short 45-minute climb to the Poon Hill viewpoint (3,210 m). Here, you will witness one of the most spectacular sunrises in the Himalayas. As the sun rises, the entire Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges glow in shades of gold and orange—an unforgettable moment.
After enjoying the view, descend to Ghorepani for breakfast.
Then begin your descent to Tikhedhunga via: Nangthanti, Banthanti, Ulleri, Terraced fields, Waterfalls and streams.
This downhill journey takes around 5–6 hours and is rich in scenery and traditional village life.
At Tikhedhunga, board your private jeep for a 3-hour drive back to Pokhara, where your short trek ends.
Overnight: Not included (trip ends in Pokhara)

It is considered easy to moderate. Anyone with average fitness can complete it.
Yes, it’s one of Nepal’s most beginner-friendly treks with well-maintained trails.
Absolutely! The primary highlight—Poon Hill sunrise—offers one of the best panoramic views in Nepal.
Guides are highly recommended (and mandatory for permits). They ensure safety, navigation, and cultural insights.
Very unlikely. The highest point is 3,210m, below common AMS risk zones.
Yes! We can modify the trek based on your time, fitness, and preferences.
Poon Hill can technically be visited throughout the year, and many trekkers do hike during every season.
However, the best times to visit are:
Autumn (September – November)
Spring (March – May)
These seasons offer the clearest mountain views, stable weather, comfortable temperatures, and the safest trekking conditions.
Winter (December – February):
Some sections of the trail may be covered in snow, and certain paths can become slippery, but the skies are often crystal clear.
Monsoon (June – August):
This is the least recommended time for Poon Hill because:
Heavy rain makes the trails muddy and slippery
There are leeches in forested areas
Jeep transportation is often not possible due to poor road conditions and landslides
Mountain views are frequently blocked by clouds
For the safest and most enjoyable experience, autumn and spring are the ideal seasons to trek to Poon Hill.
