Balthali Village Tour is a hidden gem in the heart of Nepal, offering heartwarming views of nature, authentic rural lifestyles, and the rich Newari culture of the neighboring Panauti village.
The journey begins in a peaceful settlement at the confluence of the Roshi and Ladku Khola rivers. Perched on a plateau just beyond Khopasi—only 40 km from Kathmandu—Balthali is surrounded by lush forests of colorful rhododendrons, magnolias, and sal trees. These scenic hills open into terraced fields, creating a picture-perfect landscape.
A visit here is not just about beautiful scenery—it’s a deep cultural experience. You’ll witness traditional farming practices, enjoy warm hospitality, and discover how village tourism preserves Nepal’s heritage.
As dusk falls, the valley comes alive with the twinkling lights of scattered houses, while mornings greet you with Himalayan sunrises (weather permitting). Nature lovers, birdwatchers, and photographers can spend days exploring its untouched beauty. This off-the-beaten-path location offers easy hiking and mountain biking trails, and it is dotted with sacred sites such as Namo Buddha, Indreshwar Mahadev, and Brahmayani Temples, each holding fascinating stories of Nepal’s past.
After breakfast, our team will pick you up from your hotel in Kathmandu and drive to Bhaktapur. Explore Bhaktapur Durbar Square, famous for its medieval architecture, courtyards, and traditional Newari lifestyle.
Continue your journey to Khopasi (approx. 35 km), then enjoy a short hike (about 1 hour) to Balthali Village, passing through terraced fields and charming thatched-roof houses. Overnight at a comfortable village resort.
Wake up early for a Himalayan sunrise (weather permitting). After breakfast, hike down to the Roshi and Punyamati rivers’ confluence, visit the water mill, and explore the Ladkeshwor Temple inside a natural cave.
Continue to Nepane Village to experience the Tamang community’s culture and traditions. Return to the resort for lunch, then drive back to Kathmandu via Khopasi.
